my first cell phones
In 2025, I swapped my Pixel 7 for a Light Phone II. I wanted a phone that pretty much just calls and texts; I don't need the entire internet in my pocket 24/7.
The Light Phone II is a nice, modern version of a brick phone. But it got me thinking about my very first phones:
I wish a company would bring back modern versions of retro brick phones. The "dumbphone" movement is growing and phone companies would make money for the nostalgia alone. I'm guessing the loss in ad revenue and data collection is probably holding them back--they can't make money off your internet activity if you're not constantly on the internet.
